With less than a month left in 2025, we at TAILORS WORLD are bustling with year-end delivery requests and urgent material orders, a lively start to the end of the year, just as the term shihasu (the bustling last month of the year) suggests. We hope this finds you well.

I am Yu Yamamoto from the TAILORS WORLD editorial team.

This time, as we look back on the year, we are pleased to present the Annual Ranking TOP 10 based on Sales Quantity (not sales amount), as indicated in the title!

We began handling outer fabrics in the Autumn/Winter 2020 season, and as we mark our fifth year in 2025, our fabric lineup has expanded significantly. Starting only with Miyuki Keori, we now proudly feature materials from Kuzuuri Keori, Kunishima, Takaoka (Canonico), and Nikke Textile, which has thankfully led to an increase in sales volume.

Now, let’s dive straight into the rankings, starting from number 10!

*Please understand in advance that since this ranking is based on fair sales quantity, some seasonal fabrics may no longer be available for purchase.

🔟 10th Place: ~NMAFD009-51~ from Nikke Textile’s “WOOL DENIM”

In 10th place, we have a fabric from Nikke Textile, which we started handling this season. The WOOL DENIM bunch features a relatively lightweight Super 120’s denim material. Leveraging the strength of their sophisticated worsted spinning mill, this fabric was developed using a special spinning method that results in a rough, textured look. It is designed to be worn even in formal dress settings.

9️⃣ 9th Place: ~5788~ from FUKAKI Cashmere

Surprisingly, 9th place goes to a luxury material: Fukaki Keori’s Cashmere!

FUKAKI is a renowned domestic cashmere manufacturer highly regarded internationally. Currently, their fabric sales are entrusted to Sanki Shoji. Although the product numbers have been significantly condensed, it remains deeply popular.

This cashmere is spun using a unique blending method developed by Fukaki Keori, based on raw materials from Inner Mongolia, China. Utilizing a 2/1 twill structure, it expresses a thin yet firm texture, making it an ideal material for regular jackets. The wide variety of colors is a bonus!

8️⃣ 8th Place: ~15CN1551~ from CANONICO Spring/Summer Season Bunch

The Italian textile giant, Vitale Barberis Canonico (known as Canonico), ranks 8th. This is an atmospheric brown fabric from the N-STRETCH RUSTIC TROPICAL 21 $\mu$ collection. Unfortunately, it is already discontinued, but let’s hope it makes a comeback next season (S/S 2026)!

7️⃣ 7th Place: ~9ML0122~ from MIYUKI Formal Bunch

Miyuki Keori is synonymous with formal wear (though perhaps that’s a bit old-fashioned now, chuckles). Coming in at 7th is a deep-dye, 10-month (3-season) formal fabric from their formal collection bunch. Japanese black has undergone a unique evolution, setting it apart from international black—it’s truly a deep black, often called “Ultra Black.”

6️⃣ 6th Place: ~805~ from Kuzuri Keori DOMINX Standard Collection

Kuzuri Keori is a Bisyu textile manufacturer known for continuing to use the traditional, super-low-speed Schoenherr loom. Fabrics woven on a Schoenherr loom possess a hand-woven texture unique to the slow, automatic process. Each part of the machine works like a craftsman’s hand, gently and slowly weaving the fibers without damaging them. The warp tension is loose, allowing for play, which results in a soft texture, fullness, elasticity, excellent resilience, and flexibility—perfect for suit material.

The Kuzuri Keori DOMINX fabric in 6th place is specifically for Striped Trousers (calles trousers), typically worn with a morning coat or director’s suit. This niche fabric’s high ranking is due to large volume orders, including ready-to-wear projects.

5️⃣ 5th Place: ~LM695~ EXCY Original Jersey Fabric

This spot is taken by our Original EXCY Fabric!

It uses yarn twisted with an exquisite balance of wool and polyester, knitted into a double twill on a high-gauge machine. The finishing process involves a complex treatment to maximize the knitted structure and surface, resulting in a smooth fabric with a silk-like luster. It also incorporates an anti-static finish.

This fabric is very popular for jersey suits.

*Note: It is a bit thick, so it is generally not suitable for mid-summer.

4️⃣ 4th Place: ~4526~ from Kuzuri Keori DOMINX Standard Collection

A classic Autumn/Winter fabric from the Vintage Flannel quality ranks 4th!

3️⃣ 3rd Place: ~4MT3021~ from MIYUKI Season Collection VARAIETES

Third place is a rank from Miyuki Keori’s season collection, “VARAIETES.”

This collection combines various outerwear fabrics possible with wool, including those blended with different materials like worsted, woolen, and cotton. The brand pursues quality suitable for each item through consistent manufacturing, from raw material selection and design to finishing. The ranked fabric is AIRFLY Corduroy made from 100% fine wool, which, unlike cotton, features the characteristic warmth and high quality of wool. It is highly recommended for set-up garments!

2️⃣ 2nd Place: ~20573B~ from Kuzuri Keori DOMINX Standard Collection

DOMINX’s “Barathea Natural Stretch Black” takes 2nd place! This is a natural stretch material woven carefully in a barathea structure using Super 100’s raw material to achieve a deep black color.

1️⃣ 1st Place: ~293~ from Kuzuri Keori DOMINX Standard Collection

The honorable first place, following the 6th, 4th, and 2nd place winners, goes to Kuzuri Keori’s DOMINX Standard Collection: a dark grey, plain-woven wool mohair fabric known for its firmness and luster.

As the name DOMINX suggests, Kuzuri Keori is certainly dominant!

*DOMINX is Kuzuri Keori’s brand name, inspired by the French word “DOMINATION,” which means “conquest” or “supremacy.”

Summary

How was the ranking?

It’s worth noting that the high ranking of some fabrics is partly due to large-volume sales for apparel mass production, rather than solely individual chakubun (cut-length) sales. Therefore, it may not exclusively represent fabrics for custom-made suits, but we hope it serves as a useful reference for you.
