The third installment of our 2025 recap is here! Following the outer fabrics and linings, it’s time to announce the annual ranking for buttons.

As indicated in the title, we have categorized the buttons by material and will present the TOP 5 for each.

Polyester Buttons TOP 5

5th Place: ~STEALTH~ EXCY Original Made in Italy Button

“Stealth” ranks a solid 5th place, standing out with its beautiful, characteristically Italian color palette.

4th Place: ~LUCCA~ EXCY Original Made in Italy Button

In 4th place is LUCCA, which we began selling in March 2024. It’s remarkable that it has climbed to 4th place in less than two years. Its vivid coloration—specifically the subtle gradation in the button’s center—creates a seductive luster, perfect for a stylish and sophisticated suit.

3rd Place: ~ASK~ EXCY Original Made in Italy Button

Another Italian button! The contrast between the rim and the center, along with the transparency in the middle, gives this button a unique personality.

2nd Place: ~SERIE~ EXCY Original Made in Italy Button

SERIE is a long-selling button featuring a translucent center that has earned it a loyal following.

1st Place: ~MONTE~ EXCY Original Made in Italy Button

In the Polyester category, the top spot goes to MONTE! Impressively, Made in Italy buttons swept the entire TOP 5. MONTE shines with its understated, matte elegance that still manages to convey a rich texture. Italian buttons are truly dominant!

🐂 Water Buffalo (Horn) Buttons TOP 5

5th Place: ~MOUSSE~ Mortar-shaped Genuine Horn Button

Ranking 5th is MOUSSE, a thick, mortar-shaped button that exudes luxury. This is actually a personal favorite of mine, so I’m thrilled to see it on the list!

4th Place: ~EX150~ OUTLET Lens-shaped Genuine Horn Button

EX150, a genuine horn button sold as an outlet item due to being discontinued by the manufacturer, ranks 4th. To offer a lower price, we set the minimum order quantity to 30 units, but even with that restriction, its affordability clearly resonated with customers amidst rising horn prices. Some colors are already sold out—it’s first come, first served!

3rd Place: ~KAISER~ Polyester & Horn Composite Button

Fitting for its name (“Kaiser” meaning Emperor), this button features genuine horn encased in polyester. By wrapping it in polyester, we can express color from the sides to the back while increasing durability—a truly meticulously designed button.

2nd Place: ~REAL C~ Matte 4-Hole Button

(Commentary combined with 1st Place below)

1st Place: ~REAL B~ Polished 4-Hole Button

The top spot in the Water Buffalo category goes to the classic REAL B! The “Real” series achieved a 1st and 2nd place finish. As the names suggest, the matte version is “C” and the polished version is “B.”

Metal Buttons TOP 5

5th Place: ~ML18~ EXCY Original Made in Italy Metal Button

Following the polyester category, another Italian button ranks here. The “Made in Italy” whirlwind shows no signs of slowing down!

4th Place: ~YM FLAT~ EXCY Original Metal Button

Named after “Yamamoto,” our original metal button ranks 4th. As the name suggests, it is a flat, simple, and glossy button—the kind of classic design that was surprisingly hard to find until now.

3rd Place: ~ML22~ EXCY Original Made in Italy Metal Button

Yet another appearance by an Italian button!

2nd Place: ~ML19~ EXCY Original Made in Italy Metal Button

The streak continues! 2nd place goes to ML19, which incorporates some unique and rare colors.

1st Place: ~ML20~ EXCY Original Made in Italy Metal Button

The winner of the Metal Button category is truly breathtaking: another EXCY Original Italian metal button! ML20 is a “combi-type” button with a design that stands out even among metal buttons.

In this category, Made in Italy buttons took every spot except 4th—a second “title” for the Italian series after the polyester category.

🐚 Shell Buttons TOP 5

5th Place: ~MARINA~ EXCY Original Made in Italy Shell & Wood Composite Button

You might be tired of hearing it, but yes, 5th place is once again an original Italian button! This button wraps shell in wood, creating a natural atmosphere. The wood casing also helps reduce the inherent fragility of natural shell.

4th Place: ~SC17~ Standard 4-Hole Brown MOP (Mother of Pearl) Button

The 4th spot goes to a quintessential classic: the “Type 17” rimmed 4-hole button in Brown MOP (Troca shell).

*SC stands for Shell + Cha (Brown in Japanese).

3rd Place: ~17 (White MOP)~ Standard 4-Hole Shell Button

Following 4th place, another “Type 17” classic ranks here, this time in White MOP (Mother of Pearl).

2nd Place: ~ITALY SHELL~ EXCY Original Made in Italy Shell & Polyester Composite Button

The Italian momentum is unstoppable! 2nd place goes to ITALY SHELL, which features shell encased in polyester for added protection and style.

1st Place: ~SB17~ Standard 4-Hole Black MOP Button

As expected of the classic Type 17, it swept 1st, 3rd, and 4th place. The winner is the elegant Black MOP!

*SB stands for Shell + Black.

How did you find our 2025 button rankings, following our previous lists for fabrics and linings?

From the “expected” classics to some surprising entries, the list was quite diverse. We hope you found something that catches your eye!

One thing is for sure: Italian buttons were incredibly strong this year. Please believe me when I say this ranking is purely based on the raw sales quantity data from our 2025 management system—there was no bias involved!
